Synopsis

Griselda, which debuted at #1 on Netflix’s Top 10 on English TV Chart, is the fictionalized dramatization inspired by the life of the savvy and ambitious Griselda Blanco, whom Pablo Escobar once said “The only man I was ever afraid of was a woman named Griselda Blanco.” Coined as “the Godmother,” Grisleda is played by Sofía Vergara. In this series, Griselda Blanco (Vergara) spent ten years as the brains behind her husband Alberto’s drug trafficking operation in Medellín and New York. When she escapes to Florida with her three sons, she uses that know-how to build a new life for her family with a ferocity that doesn’t always serve her well.

Sofía Vergara stars and executive produces the limited series with co-creators of Narcos and NarcosMexico showrunners Eric Newman, Carlo Bernard, Doug Miro, and Ingrid EscajedaNarcos director Andrés Baiz directs all six episodes of Griselda. Ingrid Escajeda, Doug Miro, Eric Newman, Brenna Kouf, Cassie Pappas, Turi Meyer, Alfredo Septién, Gina Lucita Monreal, Giovanna Sarquis, and Carlo Bernard all lend their writing talents to the dramatic series.

National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) is a 40+ year old 501(c)(3) non-profit, nonpartisan, civil and human rights organization that was founded to eliminate hate, discrimination, and racism toward Latino and marginalized communities, which includes seniors, youth, and other historically excluded groups.

We advance Latino visibility and influence from the halls of Washington, D.C., to the studios of Hollywood. Through mentorship, education, networking opportunities, and direct access to entertainment executives, these programs help transform emerging talent into lasting industry voices while expanding authentic representation across media.

We lead the work to eliminate online hate and disinformation across media platforms. We advocate in the space of Artificial Intelligence when it intersects with civil & human rights, including making sure Latino-Interest and children’s protections are included in AI initiatives and implementations. We advocate for the Affordable Connectivity Program, Lifeline Program, Net Neutrality protections, and closing the digital divide for Latino and other marginalized communities. NHMC works in partnership with other social justice organizations to safeguard democracy in the United States of America.
