Stop Hate For Profit

Welcome to the Stop Hate For Profit Movement

Thank you for joining the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) and being a part of the Stop Hate For Profit movement. Along with our coalition partners, we have built on the early success of #StopHateForProfit – in which over 1,200 companies and non-profits demanded change from Facebook, including some of the most well-known brands in the world, such as Unilever, Verizon, Adidas, Ford, Williams Sonoma, Patagonia and many more. Help us as we urge Social Media companies to take a stance against online hate and the dangerous threats to human life and to the democracy of the United States.

What is Stop Hate for Profit?

Stop Hate for Profit is an ongoing campaign to hold social media companies accountable for hate on their platforms. Social media must prioritize people over profit, and they must do it now. This movement was founded by some of the most prominent civil rights groups and nonprofit organizations in the country including ADL, Color of Change, Common Sense, Free Press, LULAC, Mozilla, NAACP, Sleeping Giants, and NHMC.

With the support of more than 1,200 businesses and non-profits and countless consumers, we sent a clear message to Facebook in July 2020 with our ad pause: stop valuing profits over hate, bigotry, racism, anti-Semitism, and disinformation.

We continue to demand change and that Facebook stop hate for profit.
