The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) held its annual Impacts New York Awards Reception in New York City on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025. The evening was hosted and emceed by award-winning actor, producer, activist, and NHMC’s Visionary Alliance member Wilson Cruz, with a keynote address delivered by Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13).
“I’m proud to be in a room filled with people who not only care but want to take action in showing that they believe in a better tomorrow,” said Brenda Victoria Castillo, President & CEO of the NHMC. “Tonight, we have honored leaders who are doing the essential work of building power and protecting rights, leaders who understand that our stories, our struggles, and our triumphs are interconnected. We are here because we know that when human rights are fortified, when every voice is empowered, real and lasting change becomes possible,” she continued.
NHMC Impacts New York Awards Reception celebrates and honors impactful organizations and individuals building a strong Latino community in New York City. This year’s honorees included:
“Tonight, NHMC is shining a light on those who are breaking barriers and building futures that reflect the richness of who we are,” said Wilson Cruz. “What a night to see Latinos shine so brightly and to know that the work we do matters,” he continued.
“We are strong, we are resilient - we should look to our history to gain our strength during this crossroad and we’ll be able to determine that it’s just a bump in the road,” said Representative Adriano Espaillat.
Hosted in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C., NHMC’s Impact Awards allows attendees to network with leaders across the media, news, entertainment, technology, political, and social justice sectors, with the goal of creating a space to connect Latine talent so they can collaborate with decision-makers across industries.
“Tonight marks another chapter for NHMC as our Impacts celebration returns to New York,” said Randy Abreu, Strategic Policy Council of the NHMC, while delivering the evening’s opening remarks. “We are here to honor leaders and visionaries who are fortifying human rights and building power, through the arts, in government, in literature, in culture, and in our communities.”
