NHMC ADDS MITÚ PRESIDENT AND COFOUNDER BEATRIZ ACEVEDO AND ENTERTAINMENT BANKER PHILIP SANCHEZ TO ITS BUSINESS ADVISORY BOARD

PASADENA, Calif. - The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) has named Beatriz Acevedo, president and founding parter of mitú, and Philip Sanchez, vice president and relationship manager at City National Bank, to its Business Advisory Board.

NHMC's 14-member business advisory board comprises prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs committed to promoting a more accurate representation of Latinos in media and increasing the ranks of Latinos in on-screen and behind-the-camera roles in film and television. Members are actively engaged in event planning, resource development and fundraising.

"Beatriz and Philip bring to our Business Advisory Board diverse and valuable perspectives of the business side of entertainment," said Alex Nogales, NHMC president and chief executive officer. "Their insights, experience and reputation in the industry add a unique dimension to the board and will play a key role in furthering NHMC's mission."

Beatriz Acevedo

Beatrice Acevedo is president and founding partner of mitú, the leading digital media brand for Latino millennials. A digital pioneer and network show runner with more than 20 years of entertainment industry experience, she has created, developed and produced hundreds of original, primetime television shows and award-winning digital series, as well as television and digital branded content for more than 20 Blue Chip brands.

In 2014, The Hollywood Reporter named her to its inaugural Silicon Beach Power 25 list of Los Angeles' top digital media players, and The Wrap recognized her as one of 11 thought leaders changing Hollywood. NHMC recognized her with its 2015 Impact award for Outstanding Innovation in Social Media. In 2016, she was named by Wired magazine as one of its 100 top global influencers.

Acevedo serves on the boards of directors of the Latino Donor Collaborative, National Association of Latino Independent Producers and BeVisible, a career and recruitment network for Latinxs.

Philip Sanchez

Philip Sanchez is vice president and relationship manager in City National Bank's entertainment division, where he is one of three portfolio managers leading its Latin Entertainment Initiative, which seeks to expand the bank's presence in the Latino entertainment community. He also co-chairs City National's Latino Community Network, which focuses on colleague development and community outreach.

He serves on the board of the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice and Cal State Fullerton's Latino Communications Initiative.
