NHMC Supports Latino Projects

Supports Latino Projects During These Unprecedented Times

As a civil rights organization, we are advocates at our core and our work on behalf of the Latine community is largely done by organizing. Our work spans from Washington D.C. to Hollywood and our efforts in Hollywood are needed in this moment. NHMC stands in solidarity with the creative community in seeking fair pay for their craft above and below the line. We believe all creatives should be fairly compensated for their work, and urge all parties to come to the table and work together to come to an agreement that is equitable, elevates underrepresented voices, and paves the way for the future of the industry. If you or someone you know needs support or you wish to support creatives during this time, please visit, entertainmentcommunity.org.

From the stage to podcast forums and now on our screens, it is The Horror of Dolores Roach.

When Dolores, played by Justina Machado, is released from prison after sixteen years for an unjust crime. She returns to a gentrified Washington Heights with the neighborhood completely different. Dolores’s boyfriend is gone, she has no family, no prospect of a job and no place to live, that is until she reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis, played by Alejandro Hernandez. Luis becomes her savior by offering Dolores a place to stay and a space for Dolores to work as a masseuse under his empanada shop. When the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threatened, “Magic Hands” Dolores is driven to shocking extremes to survive.
