NHMC President & CEO Speaks on DEIA

Demand Diversity RoundTable - Brenda's Remarks

Shortly after President Trump's inauguration, NHMC President & CEO, Brenda Victoria Castillo gathered in Washington, DC with civil rights colleagues to host a Roundtable Discussion on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA). Brenda shared NHMC's position on DEIA, noting that companies shouldn't keep their DEIA programs afloat simply because it's the right thing to do; U.S. companies should support DEIA because it's bad business to decide otherwise.

"At the National Hispanic Media Coalition, we believe that a rising tide lifts all boats. Investing in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility programs and initiatives means investing in the future of our economy. With Latinos alone making up nearly a quarter of the U.S. population by 2060, diversity means a bigger customer base for companies, goods, and services. Leaders of the corporate industry owe a fiduciary duty to consider the business case for diversity and its impact on productivity, retention, and profit margins. NHMC urges U.S. Corporations to defer from rash cutting of DEI programs, and instead pause and reflect on what the future of their companies look like without a diverse customer base."  - Brenda Victoria Castillo, NHMC President & CEO
