NHMC Joins Center for Media Justice at the Digital Sanctuary Summit in Oakland, California

On Friday, April 27, 2018, Carmen Scurato attended Center for Media Justice (CMJ) and its MAG-Net members in Oakland, California to participate in the Digital Sanctuary Summit. Carmen was on panel entitled “To Plead Our Own Cause.” It sparked conversations on issues related to privacy online, trust in social media platforms, broadband access and affordability, defending Lifeline, restoring Net Neutrality, and protecting the digital rights of marginalized communities in the 21st century. The other panelists were Cayden Mak (18MillionRising.org) and Alfredo Lopez (May First/People Link).

National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) is a woman-led 501(c)(3) non-profit civil and human rights organization that was founded to eliminate hate, discrimination, and racism toward the Latino communities.
