NHMC Joins ADL and Allies in Call to End Antisemitism Over Ye’s Recent Comments

October 26, 2022

A Statement  from Brenda Victoria Castillo, President & CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC)

Over the past several weeks, Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) has made vicious antisemitic remarks and threats toward the Jewish community online. NHMC condemns these remarks and all anti-Semitic rhetoric. Hate – of any kind – has no place in our society, and we remain steadfast as an organization in combating hate online and in real life.

NHMC is a proud ally of the Anti-Defamation League and supported their #RunAwayFromHate campaign that called for Adidas to end their contract and engagements with Ye.

When we allow hate to go unchecked in our society, we invite discriminatory ideologies to fall into power. That’s why NHMC calls on Ye and his business partners to refrain from buying Parler, the social media application.

Hate is a threat to our democracy and our livelihoods. We cannot stay silent in the face of hate towards our communities or allies.

Yours in the Movement,

Brenda Victoria Castillo
