“The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) today announced its latest cohort of participants for its 2025 Series Scriptwriters Program (SSP) cohort.
Ten talented Latine women from across the country have been selected for an intensive eight-week writers lab, where they will develop an original half-hour or hour-long television pilot. At the conclusion of the program, their scripts will be reviewed by SSP studio partners, including The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal and Netflix.
The NHMC Series Scriptwriters Program has been a launchpad for Latine storytellers, helping more than 200 writers break into the entertainment industry and bring their stories to life. Throughout the program, participants receive hands-on guidance from professional mentors, build meaningful connections with established TV writers, and sharpen their storytelling and pitching skills. The Series Scriptwriters Program shapes the future of television by championing Latine voices and creativity.
Alumni of the program have proceeded to work on some of today’s most prominent shows, including AMC’s “Interview With the Vampire,” CBS’s “Matlock,” NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” NBC’s “Lopez vs. Lopez,” Starz’s “The Serpent Queen,” Apple TV+’s “Acapulco” and NBC’s “Something Wicked,” the upcoming reboot of “Bewitched.”
Brenda Victoria Castillo, president and CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition, said, “The future of television starts with bold, authentic storytelling — and that’s exactly what this cohort represents.” She continued, “This program is about more than breaking barriers, it’s about rewriting the narrative. Latine creators are visionaries, and their stories are rich, urgent, and deeply tied to our community. In 2025, NHMC is doubling down on our mission to elevate Latine brilliance and ensure our voices are not just heard but celebrated across every screen. The industry is evolving, and Latine storytellers are leading the way.”
The program is officially conducted virtually to give talent from across the nation the opportunity to participate in the program remotely.
In addition to providing writers with the tools they need to take their careers to new heights, the Series Scriptwriters Program allows Latine writers to form a community where they can workshop ideas, build network connections, collaborate with peers, and introduce one another to opportunities in the industry.
