Los Angeles singer-songwriter Miguel is back with a brand-new NPR Tiny Desk Concert.  The Grammy-winning artist first performed at NPR’s Tiny Desk in 2012, and now returns with even more milestones and artistic growth behind him. His set features fan favorites like “Sure Thing” and “Sky Walker,” and includes the Spanish-language track “CAOS.” Between songs, Miguel reflects on each chapter of his career, sharing how his music has marked a journey of self-discovery and gratitude.

The episode dropped today and is available to watch now. NPR is an independent, nonprofit media organization, and watching Tiny Desk episodes helps sustain platforms that uplift artists and amplify diverse voices.

In 2023, NHMC honored Miguel with the Powerhouse Impact Award, recognizing him among a group of individuals who are “truly making an impact, shifting societal narratives, and setting an example for Latine communities.”

Tune in to see our honoree deliver stunning vocals and a reflection of his growth as an artist.

Grief, migration, and memory collide in Eating Ashes, a novel by Brenda Navarro.

This book is set between Barcelona and Mexico. The story follows an unnamed narrator dealing with the death of her teenage brother, Diego, whom she helped raise while their mother worked abroad in Spain. After his death, she returns to Mexico with ashes in hand, piecing together a life shaped by separation, displacement, and love, all while confronting the loneliness and resilience that come with the migrant experience.

Ceniza En La Boca was originally published in 2022 in Spanish, but the newly released translation hit shelves just last week, and Eating Ashes is now available in English.

For book to film lovers, the film adaptation of Eating Ashes, directed by Diego Luna, is coming soon!

The Rip follows a group of Miami cops who stumble upon millions in cash. What starts as a major discovery quickly spirals into paranoia and mistrust, forcing each of them to question who they can truly rely on as word spreads.

Starring alongside Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are Latino talent Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sasha Calle, Lina Esco, and Alex Hernandez. The film brings both star power and representation to the screen.

But The Rip isn’t just making noise on-screen. Behind the scenes, Affleck and Damon pushed Netflix to offer performance-based bonuses for the film’s crew. This is different from Netflix’s typical upfront-only pay model. Through their production company, Artists Equity, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon helped secure a deal that rewards the people who make the film possible when it succeeds, and addresses some of the pay equity issues in the entertainment industry.

The Rip is a meaningful step toward fairer compensation in Hollywood. Stream it now on Netflix—not just for the thrill, but to support change!
