Applications are now open for the GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics Crimson Honors. The Crimson Honors is a contest aimed at empowering LGBTQ students pursuing careers in entertainment journalism. The program offers $3,000 in financial assistance, awarding $1,000 each to three standouts. Winners will also gain two years of free GALECA membership and networking opportunities with top industry professionals. 

Who Can Apply?

  • Current full-time undergraduate students or 2024 graduates from a U.S. public community two-year or four-year state colleges who identify as gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, or queer.
  • Students who are currently paid or employed by an external media outlet are not eligible, but credited internships are fine 
  • Non-print entries such as radio, podcast, YouTube, etc. will also be considered
  • Nonbinary persons of color and women of color are especially encouraged to apply!

What You Need to Submit:

  • 1 to 3 reviews and/or features relating to film, TV, or Broadway/Off-Broadway that have been published or posted between March 2024 and March 20, 2025.
  • Video or audio segments must be two to five minutes in length. 
  • Resume
  • 300-word statement on why you aspire to be an entertainment journalist
  • Non-English submissions are eligible, but provide an English translation

Deadline: March 20, 2025, 11:59 PM PT
