Members of Congress to Hold Press Conference on Net Neutrality National Day of Action

Senator Markey, Congressman Doyle, and co-sponsors to highlight growing national momentum to reinstate FCC Open Internet Order, will discuss next steps to force a Senate vote on CRA Resolution

Washington (February 26, 2018) – Senators Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), Congressman Mike Doyle (PA-14), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and other members of Congress will be joined on Tuesday, February 27 by technology companies, grassroots organizations, advocates, and public interest groups at a press conference in support of the net neutrality national day of action. Today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) published in the Federal Register its final rule to repeal the Open Internet order. At the press conference, Senator Markey will discuss momentum for his Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval, which stands at 50 supporters, along with efforts to find one more vote in order to overturn the FCC’s misguided decision. Rep. Doyle’s resolution in the House of Representatives currently has 144 co-sponsors. Democrats plan to force a vote on the resolution in the coming months, putting Republicans on notice that they will have to choose to side with big cable and telecommunications companies or with the majority of Americans – small businesses, entrepreneurs, innovators, students, technology start-ups – that support net neutrality.
