Fellows

Policy & Media Fellowships Workforce Development Program

Our Fellowship Program offers paid positions for students and recent graduates to work directly to support the social justice mission of NHMC. These positions are designed for individuals at a range of levels and include professional development, technical training, and mentorship. The Policy and Media Fellowship Workforce Development Program is open to all races and ethnicities.
Fellows' work focuses on various areas, including telecommunications policy, media advocacy, communications, and more. We have established a successful pipeline, where former fellows have proceeded to work for NHMC, the FCC, congressional offices, other agencies, and media companies.

Your partnership can be directed toward a specific element of the research/organizational process (combating online hate, increasing representation), a particular pillar of our research agenda (e.g., research into digital equity or net neutrality), or can be designed to fund a general position where the Fellow follows their intellectual passions and professional pathways.

Victoria Gonzalez

Digital Equity Policy Fellow
Victoria Gonzalez is a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan University. She was a full time student athlete that graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Political Science and Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies. Victoria, as a Mexican-American and a first generation student, is passionate about making the world a better place for future generations of marginalized communities.

In her previous role at the Government Accountability Office, she engaged with stakeholders and conducted thorough investigations into legislative programs. Drawing from her tenure with the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), she delved deeply into the complexities of gerrymandering and actively campaigned for fairer electoral maps, particularly in states facing oppressive practices. Serving as an advocate for inclusive democracy, she passionately worked towards ensuring that every voice is heard and every vote counts.

Genesis Terrazas Belmares

Office & Events Fellow
Genesis Terrazas Belmares is a graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. As a first-generation student and immigrant from Mexico, she is deeply passionate about workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Genesis has focused her academic and professional career on examining the intersectionality of gender, race, and employee experiences. With a background in consulting, project management, research, and data analysis, she has contributed to various nonprofit organizations. As a Poderosa Fellow with Poder Latinx and a Courageous Conversations Fellow, Genesis has actively mobilized Latinx communities and promoted discussions around racial equity.

Her long-term goal is to work in nonprofit management or become an organizational consultant, implementing strategies that foster inclusive and supportive environments for diverse workforces. No matter the path, Genesis is committed to contributing to an organization focused on social justice and helping create a more inclusive society. She is dedicated to helping workplaces adapt to cultural and generational shifts while advocating for first-generation professionals, DACA recipients, and underrepresented groups in the workforce. In her free time, Genesis enjoys reading, volunteering at the animal shelter, spending time with family and friends, and learning how to garden.
National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) is a woman-led 501(c)(3) non-profit, nonpartisan, civil and human rights organization that was founded to eliminate hate, discrimination, and racism toward Latino and marginalized communities.

We educate and increase Latino visibility from our policy work in Washington, D.C., to our media advocacy work in Hollywood, where we connect, collaborate, and create with talent within the entertainment industry.

We lead the work to eliminate online hate and disinformation across media platforms. We advocate for the Affordable Connectivity Program, Lifeline Program, Net Neutrality protections, and closing the digital divide for Latino and other marginalized communities. NHMC works in partnership with other social justice organizations to safeguard democracy in the United States of America.

NHMC is a not-for-profit, and provides equal opportunities to all individuals without regard to race, religion, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, veteran status, or any other status protected by law
