On May 9, 2018, Carmen Scurato, Vice President of Policy and General Counsel represented the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) was on a panel at New America’s Open Technology Institute. Advocates and journalists gathered to discuss the integrity of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) public comment process. Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel provided the keynote address. Then the panel addressed issues ranging from fake comments in the Net Neutrality proceeding to the over 50,000 Net Neutrality consumer complaints discovered by NHMC through its Freedom of Information Act requests. Other panelists included Alex Howard (Open Government Analyst, E-PluribusUnum.org), James V. Grimaldi (Senior Writer, The Wall Street Journal), and Amit Narang (Regulatory Policy Advocate, Public Citizen). The panel was moderated by Mark Schmitt (Director, Political Reform Program, New America).
