Washington, DC – Today, staff of the Federal Communications Commission approved T-Mobile’s combination with MetroPCS. This comes after the Department of Justice decided not to oppose the transaction last week.

The following statement can be attributed to Alex Nogales, President & CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition: “T-Mobile is the provider of choice for many in the Latino community due to its lower rates, flexible plans, and customer service. Today’s news brings T-Mobile one step closer to being able to expand its affordable service, improve and upgrade its network, and more readily compete with the top wireless companies. Having stronger competitors in the wireless market will, ultimately, yield benefits for consumers across the country. I hope that, once this transaction is concluded, T-Mobile will continue and improve on the signature, low-cost service that it offers to our communities while avoiding any merger-related workforce reductions.”
