<![CDATA[NHMC joined various allies in urging the FCC not to allow government agencies or private entities to shut down cell phone service as a means to disrupt protests or other public expression. NHMC signed on to two comments alleging that suspension of wireless services, by public or private entities, violates freedom of speech and presents a risk to public safety. These comments were filed in a docket that the FCC opened on the heels of Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) shutting down communications services in a number of its stations to prevent a public protest.
