In collaboration with Latin Heat Entertainment Bel Hernandez will be bringing entertainment news related to the Latino community, like film and television premieres, casting opportunities, celebrity gossip and more! Latinos need to support Latinos when it comes to film, television, and other forms of media so keep up with Hollywood’s latest news by tuning into Latin Heat Hollywood Spotlight!

Last week the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences announced it’s Oscars nominees for 2018. And guess what…none of this year’s acting nominees is Latino. Why are the Film Studios excluding Latinos, especially American Latinos from the industry? NHMC’s Action Network will hold demonstrations on February 5th & March 3. They are not boycotting the Oscars, but are demonstrating to raise awareness to Oscar attendees which are representatives from the Film Studios.

Brenda Castillo sits downs with nationally recognized civil rights attorney, President & General Counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund Tom Saenz, former Los Angeles County Supervisor and NHMC Action Network member Gloria Molina, and President & CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition Alex Nogales to discuss the chronic underrepresentation of Latinos in on-screen and behind-the-camera roles in motion pictures. Why are Latina roles so few and characters so sexualized? Where is our Spike Lee? Learn how you can get involved with this movement by listening to Hollywood Spotlight.

National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) is a woman-led 501(c)(3) non-profit civil and human rights organization that was founded to eliminate hate, discrimination, and racism toward the Latino communities.
